Submission Rules

Listing Policy

This Listing Policy explains what may be submitted to GhanaBusinesses, what standards business owners must meet, how moderation works, and when a listing may be rejected, edited, suspended, or removed.

Last updated: March 29, 2026 Applies to new and existing listings

1. General rule

All listings on GhanaBusinesses must be genuine, relevant, lawful, and useful to users. A listing should represent a real business, organization, service provider, brand, or professionally operated commercial activity that users in Ghana can reasonably discover and contact.

2. What you may submit

You may submit a listing if you are the owner, operator, authorized representative, marketer, or someone with permission to publish that business information.

Typical allowed content includes:

  • business name and short description;
  • category and subcategory;
  • region, city, address, map, and business contact information;
  • website and social media links;
  • logo, cover image, gallery images, product or service information, and FAQs.

3. Accuracy and quality standards

Every listing must contain truthful and reasonably current information. Titles, descriptions, phone numbers, images, and category choices should clearly represent the actual business being promoted.

Listings should be written professionally, avoid keyword stuffing, avoid misleading claims, and should not imitate another company or create confusion about identity, ownership, location, or affiliation.

4. Duplicate and low-quality listings

We do not allow duplicate listings created to gain extra visibility, manipulate search, or flood the directory. Multiple listings for the same business may be rejected or merged unless there is a legitimate reason such as separate branches, distinct service arms, or different operating entities.

Listings may also be rejected or removed if they are incomplete, empty, too vague, copied from elsewhere without context, or clearly not useful to users.

5. Prohibited listing content

The following may not be submitted or promoted through listings:

  • false, fraudulent, deceptive, or impersonating business information;
  • defamatory, abusive, hateful, obscene, or otherwise harmful content;
  • stolen images, unauthorized logos, or content that infringes intellectual property rights;
  • illegal services or activities prohibited under applicable law;
  • malware links, scam links, or suspicious redirects;
  • spammy text intended only to manipulate search visibility;
  • placeholder listings with no real business presence;
  • misleading “official” claims, fake awards, fake badges, or unverifiable regulatory statements.

6. Images, logos, and media

Uploaded media should be relevant to the listed business and should not be deceptive, offensive, or unrelated. Logos should belong to the listed business or be uploaded with permission. Gallery and cover images should show the business, its work, its products, or its services in a clear and honest way.

We may resize, compress, crop, or refuse media uploads for quality, security, moderation, or layout reasons.

7. Categories, locations, and contact data

Submitters must choose categories, regions, and cities that best match the actual business. Listing a business in misleading locations or unrelated categories is not allowed.

Phone numbers, WhatsApp numbers, email addresses, websites, and maps should belong to or accurately serve the listed business. Contact details must not be used to impersonate another person or route leads deceptively.

8. Moderation and approval

Listings may be held for review before publication. During review, we may approve, reject, request edits, change formatting, update categories, hide certain fields, or suspend a listing if we believe that is necessary for policy compliance or directory quality.

Approval is not guaranteed. Continued publication is also not guaranteed if later information suggests policy concerns, fraud risk, legal complaints, or poor-quality submissions.

9. Suspension and removal reasons

A listing may be suspended, rejected, or removed if it:

  • contains false or disputed ownership information;
  • receives credible abuse, scam, or impersonation complaints;
  • violates law, platform policies, or moderation standards;
  • is persistently duplicated, misleading, or low quality;
  • fails verification or remains inactive or incomplete for too long;
  • creates technical, legal, reputational, or trust risk for the platform.

10. Responsibility of submitters

Anyone submitting a listing remains responsible for keeping it accurate and lawful. This includes updating old phone numbers, correcting broken links, removing outdated offers, and ensuring that claims remain supportable.

If a dispute arises over ownership or authority to manage a listing, we may request proof before making changes.

11. Reporting issues

If you believe a listing is fake, misleading, infringing, abusive, or wrongly categorized, you may report it for review. Moderation outcomes are determined internally and may include no action, correction, temporary restriction, or removal.

12. Contact for listing questions

Questions or disputes relating to listings can be sent to info@ghanabusinesses.com.
